Celestyal has announced an expansion of its partnership with Qatar to increase the number of visits to Doha over the next three years. The collaboration involves Qatar Tourism, Visit Qatar, and the port authority Mwani Qatar, aiming to double the frequency of calls during the northern winter season. This initiative builds on the success of the previous homeport arrangement.
Last year, Celestyal introduced the ‘Desert Days’ itinerary aboard the Celestyal Journey, accommodating 1260 guests and departing from Doha. The inaugural season attracted 14,500 guests, with a notable portion from the GCC and neighboring areas. Due to high demand, the season was extended, prompting the cruise line to return with two ships this December, offering bi-weekly visits to Qatar.
The seven-night ‘Desert Days’ cruise from Doha includes stops at Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, and an overnight stay in Dubai. With a two-for-one promotion, prices start at AU$2,078 for two individuals, covering meals, beverages, Wi-Fi, and gratuities. Additionally, the refurbished Celestyal Discovery, accommodating 1360 guests, will join the fleet for the next three northern winters, presenting new ‘Iconic Arabia’ cruises from Abu Dhabi.
Celestyal’s Chief Commercial Officer, Lee Haslett, expressed excitement about expanding the partnership with Qatar, emphasizing Doha’s popularity among guests. The decision to increase calls reflects the company’s commitment to showcasing the Arabian Gulf region. The immersive experiences offered by Celestyal aim to promote the destinations visited, with Doha being a focal point for new and returning guests seeking fresh and engaging activities.
The shore excursion program includes ten Qatari excursions, providing insights into the local culture and attractions. Popular tours like ‘The Quest to the Inland Sea’ and ‘Cultural Journey Through Doha’ offer guests a glimpse of traditional life, desert landscapes, and iconic landmarks. These half-day excursions start from AU$103 per person, enriching the overall cruise experience.
Celestyal’s efforts to enhance its presence in Qatar align with the growing trend of cruise lines expanding into new markets and offering diverse itineraries. The strategic partnership with Qatar Tourism and Mwani Qatar underscores the mutual benefits of boosting tourism and economic growth in the region. As the demand for unique travel experiences continues to rise, collaborations like these pave the way for enriching journeys and memorable adventures for travelers worldwide.
