The family had planned a trip from Bengaluru to Bagdogra, West Bengal, on April 4, with onward travel to Bhutan. However, delays by SpiceJet led to a cascading effect, resulting in a disrupted itinerary. Despite initial assurances of a two-hour delay, the flight eventually departed the next day at 5am. This unexpected change forced the family to rearrange their entire journey, incurring additional expenses and inconvenience.
Upon returning, the family filed a complaint against SpiceJet, citing inadequate service during the delay and lack of compelling reasons for the rescheduling. The airline’s failure to respond to the complaint within the stipulated time led to a ruling in favor of the passengers. The commission dismissed SpiceJet’s defense of uncontrollable operational issues and held the airline accountable for the disrupted travel plans.
