Hotel Indigo has officially marked its debut in New Zealand with the grand opening of Hotel Indigo Auckland in the bustling midtown on Albert Street. The 225-room establishment encapsulates the essence of the neighborhood, intertwining local history, art, and cuisine to offer a unique experience to both travelers and locals in the vibrant city of Auckland.
The hotel, situated on the grounds of a 1912 motor house that once imported Cadillacs into New Zealand, beautifully fuses industrial heritage with contemporary architecture. The interiors boast a stunning blend of heritage-listed structures and modern design elements, creating an immersive cultural ambiance throughout the property.
Renowned contemporary artist and photographer Stuart Robertson has curated a bespoke photographic exhibition exclusively for the hotel, showcasing Auckland’s essence through a visual narrative on each of the 25 floors. The lobby, transformed by stylist Simone Haag, features a collection of handcrafted local artworks, adding a touch of sophistication to the space.
IHG Hotels & Resorts’ managing director for Australasia & Pacific, Matt Tripolone, expressed excitement over the addition of Hotel Indigo Auckland to the brand’s portfolio, highlighting its significance as the fifth Hotel Indigo in Australasia. The hotel’s design philosophy celebrates its motoring heritage, evident in the automotive-inspired room decor and locally inspired amenities.
Guests at Hotel Indigo Auckland can enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline and harbor from the hotel’s high-rise vantage point. The property, spanning 27 floors of a 41-storey tower, also houses exclusive residential apartments and a state-of-the-art gym, offering a luxurious experience to guests seeking both leisure and business amenities.
Central to the hotel’s dining experience is Bistro Saine, a French-Mediterranean restaurant led by Executive Chef Yutak Son. Rooted in seasonal and local produce, the restaurant combines French culinary techniques with Mediterranean influences, promising a gastronomic journey for guests. Additionally, the hotel will introduce two more dining concepts – Café Etiquette and The Henry – offering a diverse culinary experience.
Hotel Indigo Auckland’s prime location near key landmarks such as the Sky Tower, SkyCity Casino, and the Viaduct makes it an ideal base for exploring Auckland. With its unique blend of history, art, and cuisine, Hotel Indigo Auckland emerges as a vibrant addition to Auckland’s hospitality landscape, promising a memorable stay for guests seeking a truly immersive experience in the City of Sails.
