Budapest’s hotel market is set for a vibrant year ahead, with a lineup of new establishments enhancing the city’s hospitality offerings. Nine hotels are slated to open in 2025, collectively introducing 800 additional rooms to Budapest’s accommodation landscape. This surge in hotel development reflects the city’s enduring allure as a prime investment destination, particularly in comparison to rural areas, noted Attila Hegedűs, a seasoned industry consultant.
The buoyant tourism performance of Budapest in 2024 has spurred a wave of investment activities aimed at bolstering the city’s competitive edge in the regional market. Despite the inherent cost challenges, the influx of new hotels presents a promising outlook for investors eyeing the Budapest hotel sector. Projections by industry experts suggest robust growth in the coming years, fueled by an anticipated uptick in tourism. Alongside the imminent launch of nine new hotels this year, current investment trends hint at the potential addition of 3,700 more rooms in the near future.
Among the anticipated openings is the Mamaison Hotel Chain Bridge, set to welcome guests from July 1, 2025. Nestled near the iconic Danube River and Chain Bridge, the hotel pays homage to the bohemian ambiance of the 1930s, with 54 exquisitely designed suites named after Budapest’s renowned bridges. The property boasts a vibrant social hub in its lobby and bar area, complemented by the tranquil Sunbeam spa & fitness center. Additionally, the trendy Mamaison Vibe Hotel Budapest Downtown is on track for a debut in the latter part of the year.
Adding to the city’s hotel portfolio is the TRIBE Budapest Airport hotel, scheduled for a second-quarter launch in 2025. Developed by WING Zrt., the hotel offers 167 stylishly appointed rooms catering to business travelers and discerning guests seeking a sophisticated short-stay experience. The property’s rooftop skybar promises a gastronomic journey paired with panoramic airport views, blending contemporary design elements with urban chic.
Another notable addition is the Radisson Collection Hotel Basilica Budapest, slated to open its doors in May 2025. Occupying a historic edifice with a striking vista of St. Stephen’s Basilica, this premier Radisson property will feature 71 rooms and suites, a modern fitness center, and upscale meeting facilities. The hotel’s culinary offering, ISSEI SkyBar and Restaurant, will showcase a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors, complemented by innovative cocktails.
Further diversifying Budapest’s hospitality scene is the forthcoming BO53 boutique hotel on Csengery Street, anticipated to launch in September with 80 well-appointed rooms, many boasting terraces. The property’s wellness amenities, including saunas, a jacuzzi, massage facilities, and a fitness center, aim to deliver a premium guest experience. The hotel’s strategic location underscores the growing demand for high-quality accommodations in Budapest, as highlighted by managing director Ákos Szabó.
Catering to a distinct clientele, the Jo&Joe hybrid accommodation concept is set to debut on Klauzál Street in August-September 2025. Emphasizing community engagement and immersive experiences, the hotel will offer 91 rooms, ranging from private units to shared dormitories, fostering a vibrant communal atmosphere. With a focus on affordable luxury, local partnerships, and an array of engaging programs, Jo&Joe aims to redefine the hospitality landscape in Budapest.
Amid the flurry of developments, the Triholding group is crafting a unique boutique hotel on Király Street, expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2025. Boasting nearly 100 rooms, the four-star property will showcase innovative design elements, including a garden venue, distinctive gastronomic offerings, a bespoke spa, a chic cocktail bar, and an iconic rooftop space, promising an unforgettable stay for both local and international guests.
Other upcoming projects include the conversion of the former Stühmer chocolate factory into the You Are Hotel, with 94 rooms exuding youthful vibrancy and modern aesthetics. The revamped Three Corners Hotel Anna, reopened in April with a contemporary makeover, and the forthcoming Lánchíd 19 Design Hotel, currently under development, further underscore Budapest’s evolving hospitality landscape, characterized by a blend of heritage, innovation, and immersive guest experiences.
