When planning a trip to London, most people aim to visit iconic landmarks like Big Ben or Buckingham Palace. However, for a unique experience, Lisa decided to surprise her sister Lorna with a different side of the city for her 50th birthday celebration.
Skipping the usual tourist spots, the sisters ventured to London’s Docklands area, where they indulged in an afternoon of laughter and fun at the Friends Experience in the ExCeL Centre. Staying at the Crown Plaza London Docklands, they were greeted with a picturesque riverside view and spacious accommodations.

The hotel’s prime location allowed them to explore the vibrant Docklands neighborhood, where they dined at the trendy Fremantle restaurant within the hotel, savoring a variety of global flavors. The menu offered a delightful selection of dishes, from tempura prawns to BBQ steak flatbread and chicken katsu sando.
After a hearty breakfast at Fremantle, the sisters set out to discover the local attractions, including Heroica, a unique bar housed in an old London bus, and the IFS Cloud Cable Car offering breathtaking views over the River Thames to Greenwich Peninsula.

The highlight of their trip was the Friends Experience at ExCeL London, where they immersed themselves in the world of their favorite TV show. Walking through iconic set recreations, such as Monica and Rachel’s apartment, and enjoying a glass of bubbly at Central Perk, brought back cherished memories from the sitcom.
Following their Friends-themed adventure, Lisa and Lorna hopped on the Elizabeth Line to Canary Wharf for a delightful dinner at Wahaca, an authentic Mexican restaurant known for its delectable nachos and margaritas.

London’s Docklands, once a hub of industry, has transformed into a lively destination for both residents and visitors. The Crowne Plaza London Docklands provides a convenient and relaxing stay, ideal for exploring nearby attractions like the O2 and ExCeL, or simply unwinding away from the bustling city center.
With its vibrant atmosphere and diverse dining options, Docklands offers a unique travel experience that combines history with modern entertainment. Lisa and Lorna’s trip showcased the charm and excitement that this lesser-known part of London has to offer, proving that there’s always something new to discover in the city.
