My husband and I have been planning to travel to Israel and Jordan in late-December, but if the situation doesnt improve we will need to cancel – safety first! Since we have some time off from work, we still want to take a trip and would love to hear your input on alternate destinations. A bit about us and what we are looking for: We are US citizens based out of California and can conceivably fly from any airport on the west coast.
Looking for somewhere thats not too cold. A place without snow would be preferred.
At the same time, nothing too tropical as I have a tendency to get sick in tropical climates. Our preference would be a new destination, which would remove Italy, Croatia, France, Spain, Thailand, French Polynesia, and Australia from the list of possibilities. However, we havent been to every city in those countries, so we would consider going back if we would see something new.
Once we are there, we enjoy seeing historical sites (I especially love ruins/archaeology), exploring the natural beauty of the location (e.g. hiking, biking, swimming), and trying new cuisines. We are pretty active people and while taking a day to relax at the beach is nice, an entire week of that would bore us quite a bit. Budget: Ideally wed prefer not to spend more than $1200, USD per person on airfare (coach is fine). We have a lot of Hilton and Starwood points, so wed want to go to a place where we could use them. Our total budget is somewhere around $5k for a week to 10 days.
Any input would be much appreciated!
