Traveling alone across northern Australia for a month in July (From Broome to Brisbane)

Just booked my ticket to Australia next summer, super stoked! I originally planned to go to Australia for a 3 week long sea kayaking trip around Broome after my graduation, but I figured since the flight is so damn long and expensive, might as well make the most of it and stay another month to explore rest of the country!

My rough plan is to go from Broome, to Darwin, to Cairns, then down the coast to Brisbane. Im thinking of renting a car for a month and make the drive myself. Just wondering if this is a good idea (if its even feasible) or if I should fly for part of the trip. Although Ive travelled alone before, it was in Europe and there are backpackers everywhere. Im wondering if it might get lonely in between towns, especially between Broome and Darwin.

Im totally open to ideas of any kind. The only thing set in stone right now is that Ill be starting from Broome and ending a month later in Brisbane. If anyone has any input, Im all ears. Thanks!
