Hi, Im looking into heading to Peru, Bolivia, or Nepal in the last half of February. Would be travelling with two other people, flying out of the US (Texas and Detroit/Chicago).
Flights to Lima are around $800, flights to Kathmandu are around $1200, and flights to La Paz are around $1000., Mid-range cost per day, from what I could find, is ~$25 for Nepal, ~$40 for Peru, and ~$30 for Bolivia. Peru and Bolivia seem to have more tour destinations than Nepal, such as Machu Picchu, Manu, Uyuni, etc. For flight+Airbnb+food+tours+visas, it seems like itd be around $1700, per person. Am I missing anything?
Ive heard its cheaper to book Machu Picchu / Uyuni trips in Cusco and Uyuni the day before rather than online well in advance, is this true?
Also, it being the rainy season in Peru/Bolivia, what should I expect to be closed or difficult to access in February? Are there any Machu Picchu trails still open? Uyuni salt flats should be covered in water which is something Id love to see. Hows Lake Titicaca in February? Also, any problems with Langtang trek at this time?
Any other tips or ideas are very appreciated. Im trying to figure out what my best option is here–theyre all places Im very interested in going to. Flight to Nepal would leave me with 1-2 less days than Id have in Peru or Bolivia (12 vs 14), so Im not sure if 12 days is enough for a Nepal trip.
