Im thinking about going to Jamaica next October, but it sounds like it could be the rainy season. Has anyone been there in October and can attest to how rainy it is?

Also, I posted this in the safety thread but its two weeks old and no one saw it. Is Jamaica pretty safe for tourists? I want to be able to leave the resort area but some people make it sound like its kind of sketchy.
