So I just finished by freshman year of college. Before wanting to travel to Australia, I got a job in order to travel around the US with some of my buddies. I recently saw on the front page here that The Great Barrier Reef is in some serious trouble and dying. Its loosing the gorgeous color and plant and animal life.

I want to see it before it is gone. I told some of my family and friends about this. Some think it is a crazy idea (which I do too) and others think I should go for it. The GBR is something Ive always wanted to see and I might as well see it now before it gets even more destroyed. I have a series of questions. Ive only traveled out of the country (USA) twice to El Salvador and Mexico. How would I even go about planning this insane trip? Where do I look for the best prices? This is something I really want to do and hopefully the good people of r/Travel can assist.
