Hi /fellow travellers, I am about to take a three week trip to Australia and would appreciate some pointers on things to do and see. Now assuming travel is taken care of via car/caravan and time is in two to three day spurts, what places along the East Coast would you recommend? We will be based near/visiting family along the Sunshine Coast. We like anything outdoors and preferably neat things that arent too touristy. Also budget friendly things to do would be nice to know about.
We were thinking of doing a couple day trip to Fraser Island and a 3 to 4 day trip to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef. I know it is a bit out of the way but it is one of my bucket list things. Does anybody know of any good places to see the Great Barrier Reef more south of Cairns or is that the hotspot that it seems to be?
What about family-friendly items that everybody can go to? Are there any weekly markets or festivals or artsy kinds of things?
