My girlfriend and I are travelling to Cancun around Christmas and staying for 4 nights, 5 days. Weve got together a pretty good itinerary for what we want to do, but were not sure how well be able to get to these places. One of the places that we want to go to is Chichen Itza, and I know that there are buses that run to Chichen Itza from the hotels, but we would prefer to be able to choose how long we stay, etc. We also want to explore around a bit, and would like the freedom of travel.
I saw that some people suggesting renting a car from the airport, but I want to avoid that if possible. Im a bit skeptical of driving in a new country, and Ive heard from friends that they are very quick to pull over tourists. Are cabs readily accessible in Cancun? Is there a service similar to Uber/Lyft? Would it be horribly expensive to take cabs everywhere?
If you guys have any ideas on travelling to Chichen Itza / clubs like Coco Bongo, feel free to share!
