My father was born in Europe and moved with his parents to Canada when he was two. We now live in Michigan and he has had a green card for over 20 years. multiple times a year my family will make the drive to London and/or Toronto to visit relatives. I have dual citizenship in Canada and USA. I currently have an American passport and have traveled to Europe a few times. Im planning another 3-4 month trip in January of 2017 to either Peru/Bolivia/Chile or India/Nepal/China(Possibly Tibet). I plan on eventually traveling through Australia, parts of Africa and possibly Russia as well in the next 10 years.
Im wondering if there would be any advantages to getting a Canadian passport. Would I possibly get any trouble for having a passport from a country I dont actually live in? Will I be received differently by people in some parts of the world depending on the passport Im holding? Ive read that the passports are pretty much identical but Im curious if anyone thinks differently.
