Hi, we are 4 friends who want to travel around asia, our itinerary looks like something like this (starting from chiang mai, thailand between dec 23 and dec 31): cambodia -> laos -> philippines -> myanmar -> india
We really wouldnt mind if its not in that order and wouldnt mind changing philippines for indonesia instead.
After some research, it seems like it would cost us around 1000$ US of flights without the asean pass, so we really want to buy the asean pass but Ive heard mixed reviews about them and the biggest problem is that there is no way to see the exact seats availability without buying the pass and there is absolutely no refund no matter what once youve purchased the pass.
Since the last time I checked (5-6 months ago) theyve updated their website and you can now see the availability of the seats, but its vague, there three categories, green: Available, yellow: Limited and red: Few or none. And the color is associated to a whole month, so you have no idea the amount of seats nor the dates they are available.
For my current itinerary, most flights are yellow, what the hell do that means exactly, after asking their live chat, they said they cant tell me. Will we be able to find 4 seats on the same plane ? If not, no big deal, but will we be able to find 4 seats on different flights but at least within 3 days ?
The asean pass seems like a perfect deal for us and would save us up to 600$ US, like just a laos to philippines flight is at the very mininum 300$ US, which is the price of the pass… Do anyone had any background or can answer any of my questions ? Feel free to ask me more questions.
edit: more importantly, if any of you have a active pass right now and can look at some of our flights seats availability for us, Ill be really grateful.
