Im not 100% sure if this is the right sub for this, but I couldnt find a straight answer so far but I figured someone on here could help me out.

Im going on my first trip to Australia in a few weeks, and will be there for about a year.

Im currently using an iphone 5s, but I also have an extra Iphone 5. Im wondering how I go about setting up a phone when I arrive. I dont want to use a shitty flip phone or anything while im there because I want to be able to access social mediamapsetc., Do I need to unlock a phone before I go? Is there anyway to keep my plan im on now but set it up for Australia?

Any info would really help. ANYTHING at all. Thanks in advance and sorry for the terrible wording and formating.
