I'm off for 8 or so weeks in mid-october to backpack along the Australian east coast and then onto Thailand etc.

What shoes would be appropriate for such a trip. They obviously need to be comfortable but not out of place when i'm in the cities and more beached areas.

Any advice of things I should consider? Or any other tips from people who have done something similar
