Stuck in a travel rut and wanting advice on a next move

Posted on November 9, 2015 | in Travellers Questions | by

Hi /fellow travellers, Ive been backpacking for about 4 months now, having spent 2 months in Indonesia, a month in Thailand, ten days in Japan, and now a month in Brisbane, where my bf usually lives. Weve been staying together at his house and its been a nice breather of exploring a quieter city, having a home to come back to instead of a hostel, and staying put for a bit.

However my bf has now gone to work offshore for a couple months and I am left alone at his house. Its only been a few days and Im starting to feel a bit antsy about what to do and where to go, its not the same here without him. Im really stuck on what do next though and feel like Im in a travel rut. I want to get back out of my comfort zone, make the best use of the next two months, while also being aware of costs, and not spending a fortune on a flight to New Zealand at the end of his stint offshore. Im hesitant to travel more around australia because its so expensive here and I currently have free accommodation in Brisbane which helps a ton. My daily budget is $50-$75. Im also hoping to be somewhere very outdoorsy. Looking at flights to everywhere on skyscanner isnt offering any inspiration and Im not wanting to fly back to se Asia because it seems like going backwards somehow, now that Ive already left se Asia for australia. Hoping you guys have some advice to give me a little inspiration and get me excited about the next two months. Thanks in advance for any advice!
