How do I switch between a tourist visa and a working visa without returning to Australia

Planning on travelling to England for one week next May, then moving around Europe for two months before travelling back to England to live for 8 months. Ill have a two year working visa for England however, I dont want it to start from the one week in May and then not be used for two months. Is it possible to enter as a tourist for that week or do I have to use the working visa?
