How common is internet on long-haul international flights

Posted on April 16, 2016 | in Travellers Questions | by

Ive had internet access every day of my life since 1998… up until october last year, when I took a Australia-Tokyo flight. It felt so odd, I had plenty of other tech onboard along with a/c power and inflight entertainment, but its the first time Ive been forced to not be contactable. I didnt find it relaxing or anything since I have no real deadlines or need to be contactable in my life. But all thats irrelevant to the question, I just want to know how widespread it is. Does 10 hours = long haul?
