First time American road trip

Posted on April 3, 2016 | in Travellers Questions | by

Hi there reddit, so: Im a Brit looking to travel to America for the first time! Ive travelled a lot in Europe/Australia/UK but have never reached the US (but with so much American media over here it feels familiar!) So, it is time for a trip.

Specifics:
– Fly into Las Vegas
– 1 day in Las Vegas for jet lag
Travel Las Vegas to Grand Canyon North Rim
– Grand Canyon North Rim up to Yosemite
– Yosemite across to San Fran
– Fly out of San Fran
– All in 2 weeks!

So I have so far looked at a load of small towns along the Las Vegas to Grand Canyon route, the beautiful GC lodges, then the numerous routes to the north, Death Valley, Lone Pine, and then what to do in Yosemite.
But questions: how quick is the actual Las Vegas to Grand Canyon drive? should I break the journey to the Grand Canyon, if so: where?
what route would you take to the north?
what should I see en-route to the north?

And any tips or ideas PLEASE! I have managed to find a lot about the specific places, but in between I have no idea!

EDIT Im going this August
