Would it be a problem for a dual US-Italian citizen to travel to Iran (visa on arrival) with only the Italian passport

I am a dual US-Italian citizen, but born in the USA, so my Italian passport clearly indicates that I was born in the USA and therefore am American. US-ians need a guided tour and advance visa; Italians can travel independently and do visa on arrival.
Do you think I would face any trouble at Iranian immigration?
