(I also posted this in r/Australia, but I figured you guys would have some good advices as well.)

I need some help planning my trip to Australia. Im a 22 year old female going to study abroad in Brisbane for one semester (February-June). I have come up with some places Id like to visit, but Im from Norway, so Im having some difficulties deciding when to go where regarding the weather. I have read a lot of articles and done some research on weather statistics, but I have no first hand background with Australian climate. For example, theres a lot talk of "wet" and "dry" seasons.

I arrive in Brisbane in early February, and I depart from Brisbane in late July. My plan is to travel around the Brisbane area on weekends etc, but I also have some time off uni where I want to travel further:

2 weeks in February
1.5 weeks in late March
4 weeks in July

In general, I plan to visit North Queensland (Cairns, Great Barrier Reef, rainforest, Whitsundays, Townsville etc.), Sunshine Coast (Fraser Island, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Noosa, etc. for snorkeling and beaches) and Melbourne and Sydney area (Great ocean road, coffee shops, Blue Mountains National Park, etc.). Id also like to visit Tasmania. Of course Im visiting the Gold Coast, but thats fairly close to where I will be staying, so that will be more of a weekend thing. There are many other places Im planning to visit, but I figured its better to only give you the main places. My main areas of travel interests are nature, wildlife, city life and beaches. Basically, Im looking to divide the "Melbourne to Cairns" kind of itinerary into several trips.

I can divide these places into three larger areas, the question is, what area should I visit in what month? Some of the attractions I want to see are seasonable, like turtle hatching, whale watching, diving/snorkeling, best time to see the rain forest, the southern lights in Tasmania, you catch my drift. Therefore I want to plan my travels after the weather and seasons.

Right now Im thinking of visiting the places north of Brisbane like Sunshine coast in February and then go up north to Cairns area or South to Sidney and Melbourne area in March or July.

I would also appreciate any ideas of interesting things for an animal and science loving traveller!
