Hello all

Im, an American/Canadian dual citizen who has been living abroad throughout Europe for the past 5 years. I have come across something that I have found to be very weird. I have met so many Americans pretending to be Canadians. Whenever I ask them why they are lying they tell me that theyve heard Canadians are treated better abroad. I think that this perpetuates a negative stereotype of Americans because right off the bat they are lying. On top of this I have found no better treatment by saying I am Canadian than saying I am American. If anything more people are usually interested in the American side of me because they are more familiar with everything that happens there.

So my question is why do you do it? It honestly frustrates me a lot.
